The title character of the Napoleonic Wars-era film, played by Carell, is both the bravest and the dumbest soldier in Napoleon Bonaparte\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s army and follows his from his rise to power to his permanent island exile on St. Helena\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, where Napoleon died in 1821.<\/p>\n
The script is by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, and Mike Judge and Krinksy will be executive producers on this film along with Michael Rotenberg and Tom Lassally, which is shooting for a spring 2009 start to production. No director for the film has been announced yet. <\/p>\n
Carell was last seen in this past summer’s comedic spy remake “Get Smart” in the role of bumbling espionage agent Maxwell Smart, the remake fo the classic 1960\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s comedy TV show. He is known for his work as part of the Comedy Central mock-news show “The Daily Show With John Stewart”, and came into the spotlight starring in the American remake of the British TV show “The Office” on NBC and in 2005\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s “The 40-Year Old Virgin” as Andy Stitzer. <\/p>\n
