While everyone is looking forward to the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” series, “The Dark Knight Rises,” one thing people will not be looking forward to is a world in which Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” universe will no longer be explored. With the prospect for Batman being rebooted almost immediately after “The Dark Knight Rises” (supposedly in 2014), it will be tough for anyone else to bring anything new to the franchise, at least in my book. To get everyone ready for the inevitable remakes, The L.A. Times’ Hero Complex<\/a> has partnered with graphic artist Sean Hartter to create posters for 15 “what if” reboots for the “Batman” franchise.<\/p>\n

My personal favorite is “Gotham!” directed by Rob Marshall. All of it about the movie idea is inspired–Broadway musical stylings, music by Jack White, song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman as Bruce Wayne\/Batman, Beyonce as Catwoman (probably channeling Eartha Kitt), Johnny Depp as a glamorous version of The Joker, and the tagline, “Hell is a city.” Great stuff. It could channel the 1960s camp of the television show, while having all of the glitz and glamor of today. I’d pay to see that. <\/p>\n
