{"id":8601,"date":"2008-10-30T00:15:37","date_gmt":"2008-10-30T07:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.toxicshock.tv\/news\/2008\/10\/30\/footloose-remake-comes-sooner-than-later\/"},"modified":"2008-10-28T20:22:30","modified_gmt":"2008-10-29T03:22:30","slug":"footloose-remake-comes-sooner-than-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shockya.com\/news\/2008\/10\/30\/footloose-remake-comes-sooner-than-later\/","title":{"rendered":"Footloose Remake Comes Sooner Than Later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the success of <strong>High School Musical 3: Senior Year<\/strong> its opening weekend, earning over $42 million, Paramount Pictures has announced it will fast-track it&#8217;s remake of <strong>Footloose<\/strong> in hope to acquire Zac Efron for its lead and <strong>HSM<\/strong> director, Kenny Ortega, on board as well.<\/p>\n<p>Efron is currently in negotiations for the film, which will bring him a $5,000,000+ paycheck.<\/p>\n<p>Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who produced films such as <strong>Hairspray<\/strong>, in which Efron also co-stars, and <strong>The Bucket List<\/strong>, alongside Dylan Sellers (<strong>A Cinderella Story<\/strong>) are already confirmed as producing the film as well as <strong>Nick and Norah&#8217;s Infinite Playlist<\/strong> director Peter Sollett to pen the script.<\/p>\n<p>Zadan also produced the original <strong>Footloose<\/strong> back in 1984.<\/p>\n<p>The reboot of <strong>Footloose<\/strong> is trying to draw in older teens and young adults, versus the preteen and teen crowds of <strong>HSM<\/strong>, by writing new songs that will be a modern, fresh take on the original songs.<\/p>\n<p>The original <strong>Footloose<\/strong> was one of the bestselling soundtracks of the 1980s and made actor Kevin Bacon a Hollywood heartthrob.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Footloose<\/strong> could star filming as early as Spring 2009 if the negotiation terms are met soon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image8602\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toxicshock.tv\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/footloose_2_poster.jpg\" alt=\"Footloose 2 Movie Poster\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the success of High School Musical 3: Senior Year its opening weekend, earning over $42 million, Paramount Pictures has announced it will fast-track it&#8217;s remake of Footloose in hope to acquire Zac Efron for its lead and HSM director, Kenny Ortega, on board as well.
