More importantly, they talked about the most important part of Haymitch&#8217;s characterization&#8211;his drinking.<\/p>\n<p>Harrelson said that he wanted to make sure he gave the right amount of inebriation to the role. &#8220;I was a little bit worried about looking kind of phony,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Now some method actors might go drunk on-screen,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I tried it one time when I was doing &#8216;Indecent Proposal.&#8217; I had this scene and I was supposed to be really drunk&#8230;and I got smashed! Because I was supposed to be, so I rationalized it.
