Who’s ready to take a baby step towards the summer season? Sure, May is still a ways away, but March tends to be a month for movies that have blockbuster qualities. Then again, that likely won’t pertain to Project X<\/I>. Todd Phillips hit it big with The Hangover<\/I>, but that was an R-rated comedy made for an 18+ audience. Project X<\/I>, however, is for a demographic that won’t be able to get in to see it. Still, it could end up kicking off its run with about $15 million, somewhat similar to Easy A<\/I>. The Lorax<\/I>, on the other hand, is undoubtedly off to a big start, likely scoring just as much as Dr. Seuss’ last animated feature, Horton Hears a Who!<\/I>, about $45 million.<\/p>\n

The rest of the top ten belongs to the box office veterans. Despite a possible 50% drop, Act of Valor<\/I> will still lead the pack with another $12 million. Just like For Colored Girls<\/I>, Tyler Perry\u2019s Good Deeds<\/I> is heading straight towards a wicked hit, about 60%, which would leave it with just $6 million its second weekend out. Should Journey 2: The Mysterious Island<\/I> continue to enjoy its long legs, it could top Good Deeds<\/I> by posting another $8 million.<\/p>\n

Safe House<\/I> will continue to plummet, perhaps losing 45%, but it\u2019ll secure the 5th position with its $6 million weekend four haul. As for The Vow<\/I>, it\u2019ll likely incur the same, which would put it right behind with $5.5 million. We could see a swap between the fast falling This Means War<\/I> and the even faster falling Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance<\/I>. Should This Means War<\/I> drop 45% and Ghost Rider<\/I> drop 55%, they\u2019ll make $4.6 million and $4 million respectively.<\/p>\n

Coming off its Oscar triumph and getting a 790-theater boost, The Artist<\/I> will definitely creep its way into the top ten this week. The question is, will it claim the 10th spot or manage to take down This Means War<\/I> and\/or Ghost Rider<\/I> for the 8th or 9th slot? I\u2019m betting its $3,000 per theater average holds strong and it\u2019s on its way to a $5 million haul and the 8th spot.<\/p>\n
