Theroux says “We’ve kind of got a first draft around. You know what I mean? I just got back from London where I was working with Robert Downey Jr. and Kevin Feige. He was out there. We were talking with Robert, who’s out there doing ‘Sherlock Holmes’, he was giving his input and his notes. We’re sort of there. It’s just sort of chugging along. The crews, I think, are now starting to see what they need to make, and the places that we might be going and all the rest within the story. That’s sort of one of the more exciting times.”<\/p>\n
Theroux also mentions the Terrence Howard controversy and the recasting of James “War Machine” Rhodes with Don Cheadle, an issue that played out in the past few months in the media and hype surrounding the second Iron Man movie. Theroux says that there have been no “reworkings” of the character’s role in the second movie despite rumors to the contrary, saying that he was not involved in the issue and is focusing on the story for the fans. <\/p>\n
“Iron Man”, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., grossed $580,379,406 worldwide and was Marvel Studio’s first entirely independent production. <\/p>\n
Iron Man first appeared in Marvel’s “Tales of Suspense” in 1963, and is about industrialist Tony Stark, critically injured and captured by terrorists while inspecting weapons abroad. Donning a suit of life-saving armor to keep his injured heart beating and escape his captors, he has a change of heart about his life and becomes the armored superhero known as Iron Man, one of Marvel Comics’ flagship characters. <\/p>\n
“Iron Man 2” is tentatively scheduled for release May 7th, 2010. <\/p>\n
