A surveillance video captured quick-thinking seventh grader Jeremy Wuitschick as he saved saved his bus driver and fellow students on Monday while the driver reportedly had a heart attack, CBS News<\/a> is reporting. While the bus ride started normally for the Milton, Washington students, the video shows the 13-year-old Wuitschick as he realized the driver was becoming ill.<\/p>\n

“The bus driver was acting all funny, he’s shaking, his arms are flailing, his eyes are bulging and he’s making this weird rasping noise with his mouth,” Wuitschick said. The hospital won’t confirm whether or not the driver had a heart attack, however, but Wuitschick knew he had to take action, having studied CPR. He grabbed the wheel, turned the bus to the side of the road and took the keys out of the ignition.<\/p>\n

As the bus slowed down, other students called 911, as Wuitschick started trying chest compressions on the driver. “But his eyes were rolling back and I could tell it was getting harder for him to breathe,” he added.<\/p>\n

Everyone survived the crash and got off the bus alive. The 43-year-old driver, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition was described as grave.<\/p>\n
