The \u201cIce Age\u201d franchise hit it big with \u201cThe Meltdown\u201d in 2006, taking a massive $68 million, but 2009\u2019s \u201cDawn of the Dinosaurs\u201d only managed to accumulate $41.7 million opening weekend. Is the series losing steam? Absolutely not. Being the only new wide release to hit theaters, \u201cIce Age: Continental Drift\u201d could find itself back up to \u201cThe Meltdown\u201d numbers, possibly taking a total of $65 million come the end of the weekend.<\/p>\n

As for the box office veterans, more could suffer a slashing this time around. Should \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man\u201d follow a similar path as \u201cCaptain America,\u201d it\u2019s on its way to a brutal 60% loss putting it at #2 with $26 million. \u201cTed\u201d might manage to stay strong, perhaps just bumping up its previous 40% drop to 45%. Should that be the case, it\u2019ll take another $18 million. \u201cBrave\u201d is looking at a drop as well, but thanks to the new competition in the animation department, it\u2019ll suffer a bigger blow, perhaps 50% which would give it $10 million for its fourth weekend out. <\/p>\n

\u201cSavages\u201d got off to a modest start, but it\u2019ll see a swift decline. Should \u201cSavages\u201d lose half of its opening weekend profits, it\u2019ll post an $8 million second weekend out. On the other hand, for \u201cMagic Mike,\u201d a particularly harsh weekend two drop likely means it\u2019ll have an easier time in round three, possibly bringing that 60% drop down to about 45% for $8.5 million, perhaps just enough to steal the 5th position from \u201cSavages.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lucky for \u201cTyler Perry\u2019s Madea\u2019s Witness Protection,\u201d it\u2019s got enough of a lead on \u201cMadagascar 3: Europe\u2019s Most Wanted\u201d to top it for the 7th position on the top ten, even if it drops by 50% and only earns $5 million. As for \u201cMadagascar,\u201d after a minimal 35% weekend four to five drop, it could see something more along the lines of 45% thanks to\u201d Ice Age.\u201d Should that be the case, it\u2019ll take another $4 million. After a dismal $7.2 million start, \u201cKaty Perry: Part of Me\u201d will be lucky to hold on to half of its opening weekend profits this time around. Should it only earn another $3.5 million, \u201cMoonrise Kingdom\u201d might be able to hold on to enough of its weekend seven profits to keep the #9 position with just over $3.5 million.<\/p>\n
