The Scottish actor, who has been playing the titled character in the show for the past four years, is sure the hit science fiction would easily translate to the stage, but would prefer to keep a musical version on television screens, as it would be difficult to find the time for a long-running live production.<\/p>\n
He says, “‘Doctor Who: The Musical’ has been mentioned. I would be up for it. I love a song and a dance. The thing about a musical is you have to commit for a year and a half and it’s eight times a week.”<\/p>\n
It is thought that “Doctor Who” writer Russell T. Davies is a big fan of classic Hollywood musicals and wants to bow out with an explosive, show-stopping episode. <\/p>\n
Earlier this year Tennant announced that he would be stepping down from playing the iconic Time Lord at the end of 2009. <\/p>\n
Tennant was recently forced to pull out of his run of a London production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet due to a back injury. <\/p>\n
