Just in case her current ABC crime drama ‘The Forgotten’ is forgotten by the network when it renews its shows, Michelle Borth has agreed to star in the pilot for the drama ‘The Matadors.’ While Broth currently stars as Candace Butler in the current ABC freshman show, there is speculation that its ratings aren’t living up to the network’s expectations and it may be canceled at the end of this season. If ‘The Forgotten’ is canceled, Broth will star as Juliana, the female lead in ‘The Matadors,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter. Director Doug Liman (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, “The Bourne Identity”) and screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (“Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”) are putting together a film adaptation of the story of the four-day 1971 Attica state prison uprising. Liman will also produce “Attica” alongside David Bartis under their Hypnotic company banner. Oscar Producers Want Winners to Give Two Speeches

The producers for this year’s Academy Awards have a new idea on how to keep the ceremony shorter and keep the audience interested in what the winners have to say during their acceptance speeches, according to Reuters. They suggested at this year’s annual Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills that the winners give two speeches to cut out the long thank you-filled speeches during the televised ceremony. Leo Howard Cast in Conan

12-year-old child actor Leo Howard, who played (“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and “Shorts”), has been cast in Lionsgate’s “Conan” as the young Conan the Cimmerian. Jason Momoa (“Stargate: Atlantis”) has been cast to play the adult Conan in the rest of the Marcus Nispel-directed movie, which has begun pre-production in Bulgaria. The film is based on author Robert E. Howard’s “Conan the Barbarian” character, which he created in 1932. The character has since been adapted into multiple mediums, from previous films, TV series, comic books, and cartoons. Scott Kosar Attached To Dracula Project

Scott Kosar (“The Machinist”, the remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “The Crazies”) has been brought on to work on the screenplay for “Vlad”, Summit Entertainment’s take on the classic Dracula mythology. The original script was written by Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”), and Anthony Mandler recently came on-board to direct the project. Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner are producing through their Plan B joint production company. Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production, and Meredith Milton, VP of production, are overseeing the project. Kate Winslet to Star in HBOs Mildred Pierce Remake

Kate Winslet has accepted a rare television role, The Hollywood Reporter announced on February 12, after months of rumors and negotiations. The Academy Award-winning actress will appear in the title role in HBO’s novel adaptation of ‘Mildred Pierce.’ Writer/director Todd Haynes, who previously worked on the theatrically-released movies ‘I’m Not There’ and ‘Far From Heaven,’ will be creating a five-hour mini-series based on the book.
