Zac Efron to star in untitled Matt Drake film

Mandate Pictures released a press release today stating that Zac Efron will star in an upcoming original film penned by Matt Drake. The film is a romantic action movie with Efron playing a suburbanite who spontaneously tours Europe in order to find himself. He finds himself falling in love with a young woman, who’s ex is part of the criminal underworld. Efron’s character uses his only weapons in his arsenal–wit and charm–and endures beatdown after beatdown in order to get the girl and, according to the press release, “achieve salvation”. Fredrik Bond, a Swedish multi-award director of commercials and music videos, is set to direct the film. Bond has been nominated…

Stephen Susco Writing Hack Slash

The horror news site Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Stephen Susco has been tapped by Relativity be the latest writer to take a crack at adapting the hit cult comic book “Hack/Slash” for a bit-screen film adaptation. Created by Tim Seeley and published by Devil’s Due Publishing, “Hack/Slash” is about teenage monster killer Cassie Hack, and her giant meat cleaver-wielding sidekick and protector Vlad. The two wander the country hunting down “slashers”, horror film-style serial kilers and supernatural beings. No casting or filming news has been released so far. Director Tapped For Hack Slash Film

Fredrik Bond has been tapped to direct the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of the hit Devil’s Due Publishing comic “Hack/Slash” for Rogue Pictures. Bond, who is also attached to direct a remake of the hit Korean horror movie “The Host” at Universal and the upcoming “The Hunger” for Warner Bros, has previously worked in TV commercials and music videos. Justin Marks wrote the scipt. Alexandra Milchan, Daniel Alter, and Adrian Askarieh are producing the project, which has been rumored for quite some time. “Hack/Slash” was created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli in 2004, and follows Cassie Hack, a young woman who travels across America to fight and kill “slashers”, horror…
