Warner Bros. and Fox have resolved their dispute over the upcoming and highly-anticipated film adaptation of the graphic novel “Watchmen,” according to The Hollywood reporter, with the studios reaching an agreement and moving that the case be dismissed. Though the terms of the agreement are not disclosed to the public, the deal is said to involve a sizable cash payment from Warner and a percentage of the film’s box office grosses as well. Furthermore, Fox will not be a co-distributor on the film or co-own the “Watchmen” property, but rather will share in revenue derived from it. Superherohype.com is reporting that the scheduled Tuesday January 20th court conference between Fox Studios’ and Warner Bros’ attorneys has been cancelled, fueling rumors about a possible settlement in the “Watchmen” case between Warner Bros and Fox. Fox initially sued Warner last February claiming the studio infringed on their right to make the comic book adaptation, and that Warner’s claim to the rights for the adaptation were in violation of Fox’s earlier ones. In December, when federal judge Gary A. Feess ruled that Fox has distribution rights to the film, Warner Bros faced the unfortunate prospect of having the film’s release blocked. Despite this, Watchmen’s official release date is still listing…
