Magnolia Pictures let us know that “The Signal” by David Bruckner, Dan Bush and Jacob Gentry will be screening at the LA Screamfest in the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood this Saturday, October 20th at 7PM. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sam Raimi has produced three shorts entitled Tales From The Grudge by director Toby Wilkins who was hand selected by Raimi Himslef. These shorts will promote the upcoming October 13th release The Grudge 2. The shorts are now available on the yahoo movie website here, and to be downloaded on your Cellular phone.

News broke on LATIMES.COM that Lionsgate, Sony Pictures and Comcast will join together to create FEARNET, a video-on-demand Horror Channel devoted entirely to horror films. With a planned release date of this Halloween, FEARNET will be available both on cable and on the Internet. LATIMES mentions that they plan to play mainly studio horror features, but they may also feature “original content such as horror shorts”. Keep an eye on FEARNET.COM for more information.

FlickDirect got the scoop on a new zombie film directed by George Romero called “Diary of the Dead”. The film will begin shooting on October 11th in Toronto. The film is to be shot “cinema verite” style, think Blair Witch writes FlickDirect. It follows a few college student filmmakers who cross paths with a real zombie while shooting an independent horror film.
