It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, for some of us. With the end of the year fast approaching, the awards nods are rolling in and this past week a big list was revealed – the Golden Globe nominations. Generally the right films snagged the honors – The Artist, The Descendants, The Help – but we did have a few upsets, namely the lack of Steven Spielberg’s name on the Best Director list for his work on War Horse. Brendan Meyer will certainly be having a very merry Christmas. The young actor was just cast as Stilson in Ender’s Game while Spike Lee turned to Clive Owen for…

You know what’s great about this week’s Movie News Cheat Sheet? Instead of using the information for office or school conversation-starters, you can take it to your Labor Day celebrations. Let’s just hope your holiday weekend is better than Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D‘s. While The Help continues its box office domination, those two prove that the majority of moviegoers know the difference between campy horror fun and sheer garbage. In other troublesome news, both Napoleon Dynamite and The Hangover Part II are in the midst of courtroom battles, the Napoleon Dynamite production company duking it out with Fox Searchlight and Warner Bros. facing a lawsuit from an injured…

It was also a busy week for trailers as far too many debuted to even squeeze into this Cheat Sheet….

The “Oldboy” news seems to be coming fast now that the news of Spike Lee directing has been released. Now, according to CinemaBlend via Twitch Film, Josh Brolin has been the first name rumored to be attached to the project. According to the article, Mandate Films list of potential leads has Brolin right at the tippy-top. He’s a great actor, so I’m sure he could do what is required of him and then some. In any case, he could get butts in seats and keep the people attached to those butts highly entertained. Keep in mind, though, that this is a rumor–it’s not a fact. And, as said earlier, Spike…

If you’re directly involved in it, the day and night surrounding the Oscars must be loads of fun. You would figure that between the ridiculous amounts of celebrities, awards, food and drinks that you get at the after parties, that specific Sunday out of the year must be absolutely wonderful. Perhaps it’s even a pinch more so for actor Josh Brolin. He wasn’t nominated this year for an Academy Award, but he came up and presented in a funky-looking tuxedo. You figure he worked his magic with that outfit or gave one great pitch, because now his next project happens to be “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Brolin is developing…
