According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.com, Fox Studios has picked up “Rehab,” a comedy project from Sam Laybourne that will be produced by Peter Chernin and Will Gluck. Gluck is considering directing the film as well, which Debbie Liebling is overseeing for the studio. The story centers on a man who fakes addiction in order to end up in a rehab facility so that he can reconnect with his former high school girlfriend, now a famous rock star who is recovering from excess in this facility. Variety.com is reporting that 20th Century Fox will be developing “The Deep Blue Goodbye”, an adaptation of the John D. MacDonald mystery series with Leonardo DiCaprio starring. Peter Chernin, DiCaprio, and Jennifer Davisson Killoran are all onboard as producers for the project, which is being written by Dana Stevens. DiCaprio will be playing Travis McGee, a beach bum and “salvage consultant” who lives on a house boat and recovers various types of property for clients, getting into a lot of trouble at the same time.
