Revenge of the Electric Car

Revenge of the Electric Car Movie Review

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Title: Revenge of the Electric Car Director: Chris Paine Documentary sequels are few and far between, but maybe they should be more frequent, because as events in society change, so too do the currency and context of social-statement works like “The Corporation,” ”Inside Job” and “Who Killed the Electric Car?” The latter, from 2006, told in compelling fashion the story of the crib-murder of a vehicle that would have done wonders for the environment, massively curbed the United States’ dependence on foreign oil, and additionally put the nation on a clearly defined, decades-long path toward export dominance in both automobiles and the emerging market of cell battery technology. One massive worldwide economic disaster and the near-total collapse…

Johnny English Reborn

Johnny English Reborn Movie Review

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Title: Johnny English Reborn Director: Oliver Parker Starring, Rowan Atkinson, Dominic West, Rosamund Pike, Gillian Anderson, Daniel Kaluuya, Pik Sen Lim Johnny English Reborn is the 101 minute sequel to 2003′s Johnny English, where Rowan Atkinson – of Mr. Bean fame – does his best Peter Seller’s impression (Inspector Clouseau from the hilarious Pink Panther films). Call it a James Bond spoof or a campy British spy-comedy; there is an audience for this type of product. And Rowan Atkinson does bring in some of his silent sitcom character traits (Mr. Bean) that help put him on the map. The story for this sequel follows a pattern that Ace Ventura 2…

the smurfs 2

The Smurfs Will Have a Sequel

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

I don’t think anyone is really itching for there to be a sequel to “The Smurfs,” but since the movie did so surprisingly well monetarily, even getting close to beating blockbuster “Cowboys & Aliens” and making $135 million throughout its run thus far, talk of a sequel was sure to follow. According to Filmonic and Deadline, the film will have a sequel for August 2, 2013. Who knows what the story will be. I suppose even though the film was panned by nearly every critic, it is saying something when these weird blue creatures can take on Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and almost best them one of the things…

Thor 2 Coming Down the Pike, but No Director Signed

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

CinemaBlend is reporting that a sequel to Marvel/Disney’s movie “Thor” is underway! The film is set for a 2013 release. For those that were fans of the film, that’s the good part. The bad part is that there is currently no director signed to the project, which means that Kenneth Branagh must not be coming back. Sources say that there might have been an issue with money as to why the director known most for his Shakespeare adaptations won’t return. However, Deadline is reporting that Branagh might be on the sequel in some sort of producing role because, thankfully, this isn’t a case where a director is mad at a…

Kung Fu Panda 2

Kung Fu Panda 2 Movie Review

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Title: Kung Fu Panda 2 Director: Jennifer Yuh Starring the voices of: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Gary Oldman, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, David Cross, Lucy Liu, Michelle Yeoh, James Hong Though the first installment never fully captured this guy’s attention, “Kung Fu Panda 2″ actually had me yearning for more. When taking that feeling into account, the only true disappointment to note here is that the flick barely runs 90 minutes. Every animated-action engagement felt climatic from the get-go. The landscape this adventure was placed upon will give audiences an eye-gasm. With all that praise being said, there isn’t a ton of laughter that will be flying out…

HoodwinkedToo

Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil Movie Review

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Title: Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil Directed By: Mike Disa Starring the voices of: Hayden Panettiere, Glenn Close, Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, David Ogden Stiers, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Martin Short, David Alan Grier, Cory Edwards, Brad Garrett, Wayne Newton, Andy Dick, Heidi Klum In 2005, the animated “Hoodwinked” didn’t really light up the domestic charts. So it it surprising that a sequel is now hitting theaters. Yet animations are hotter than ever these days; and if a studio slaps the 3D on them, Cha-ching! It would be easy to say that is essentially what “Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil” is all about. But the writers…
