Box Office Predictions: Sherlock Holmes To Solve The Case Of The Disappearing Box Office Profits
Thursday, December 15th, 2011Could this finally be the weekend the box office creeps out of the gutter? Yup, it looks like the time has come. Sherlock Holmes and the first two Alvin and the Chipmunks movies were all big moneymakers and their predecessors are poised to follow in their footsteps, albeit with slight dips. The first Sherlock Holmes opened with a whopping $62.3 million, but Game of Shadows is on track to post a number more comparable to National Treasure: Book of Secrets, about $44 million. Similarly, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel started their runs with $44.3 million and $48.9 million respectively, but Chipwrecked might have trouble…
