Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Box Office Predictions: Sherlock Holmes To Solve The Case Of The Disappearing Box Office Profits

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Could this finally be the weekend the box office creeps out of the gutter? Yup, it looks like the time has come. Sherlock Holmes and the first two Alvin and the Chipmunks movies were all big moneymakers and their predecessors are poised to follow in their footsteps, albeit with slight dips. The first Sherlock Holmes opened with a whopping $62.3 million, but Game of Shadows is on track to post a number more comparable to National Treasure: Book of Secrets, about $44 million. Similarly, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel started their runs with $44.3 million and $48.9 million respectively, but Chipwrecked might have trouble…

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Movie Review

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Title: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows Directed By: Guy Ritchie Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Stephen Fry, Kelly Reilly, Rachel McAdams Did you enjoy Sherlock Holmes? Odds are, your answer to that question will hold up for round two. Complicated plot, overly chatty characters, wicked action sequences, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows keeps your head spinning, but trumps its predecessor in the slightest by offering up a marginally more understandable scenario, keeping the banter to a minimum unless absolutely necessary and making the fight scenes all the more mesmerizing. Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) is back and while he’s still very much on…

Warner Brothers gives Sherlock Holmes 2 a subtitle

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

For the longest of time, the sequel for the film “Sherlock Holmes” has just been called “Sherlock Holmes 2″. But, apparently not to be outdone by Sony’s release of the official title of the Spider-Man reboot, Warner Brothers has provided a subtitle to the Robert Downey Jr. / Jude Law buddy action flick. According to FirstShowing.net, the film’s full title is “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”. Appropriate title, seeing as how this film has the exciting additions of Holmes’ arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris) and Sherlock’s slightly estranged brother Mycroft (Stephen Fry), both shadowy people in their own right. The subtitle also alludes to slightly more mysterious goings-on than what…

New Sherlock Holmes 2 footage released

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

New video from Entertainment Tonight shows some behind-the-scenes footage of the next Sherlock Holmes movie. The footage shows that another one of Holmes’ tactics for solving mysteries–going out in disguise–will be a part of the storyline. The footage shows Robert Downey Jr., who plays Holmes, dressed as an old woman, something Holmes did in one of the many stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The footage also shows the first glimpse of Noomi Rapace as a Roma character named Sim. It wouldn’t be a Sherlock Holmes movie if there wasn’t some level of discussion about Holmes and his flatmate/assistant Dr. John Watson, played by Jude Law. From the answer to…
