In an effort to promote and capitalize on the videos on demand (VOD) option, cable companies are entering into a $30 million advertising campaign with Hollywood studios, the Hollywood Reporter announced on March 17. With theater prices rising and the recession continuing, more people are turning to VOD to watch the latest releases. Eros ties up with AKSH Optifibre to Bring Bollywood to IPTV Subscribers

Mumbai / London, 3rd April, 2008: Eros Internationall plc, the AIM-listed leading company in Indian film entertainment and media, today announced that it has signed a three year content licensing deal with Aksh Optifibre Ltd on an upfront fee plus revenue share basis. Through the agreement, Eros’ Bollywood content will be distributed on A-Tel, Aksh-MTNL’s IPTV platform. A-Tel currently has 150 channels accessible to its subscribers. FEARNET a video-on-demand Horror Channel

News broke on LATIMES.COM that Lionsgate, Sony Pictures and Comcast will join together to create FEARNET, a video-on-demand Horror Channel devoted entirely to horror films. With a planned release date of this Halloween, FEARNET will be available both on cable and on the Internet.
