3rd Superman Movie Reboot Imminent
Warner Bros. Pictures president Jeff Robinov has officially comfirmed that the studio will be rebooting the Superman series. The 2006 film “Superman Returns” starred Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, James Marsden and Parker Posey. Andrew Shue and Amy Robach Marry
Actor Andrew Shue, who portrayed Billy Campbell in the hit ’90s FOX series ‘Melrose Place,’ married ‘Weekend Today’ anchor Amy Robach on February 6 at Chelsea Piers in New York, PEOPLE Magazine is reporting. The day was extra special for the couple, as the actor’s mother officiated the ceremony, and it was the anchor’s 37th birthday. PEOPLE also reported that the ceremony had a modest gathering, as the couple wanted an intimate feel with close friends and family. Writers Named For Another Batman Movie
David Goyer and Jonah Nolan, brother of director Christopher Nolan, were mentioned as already working on a script for a third Nolan-directed “Batman” film, a followup to 2005’s “Batman Begins” and 2008’s “The Dark Knight”. Goyer recently announced his departure as showrunner from ABC’s “FlashForward” to concentrate on his film work, specifically mentioning working with Chris Nolan’s brother Jonah on the Batman film, which has been long-rumored ever since the release and record-breaking theater run of “The Dark Knight”. DC Comics Documentary In The Works
Director Jeffrey Blitz and producer Sean Welch (”Spellbound”, “Rocket Science”, “Lucky”) recently revealed that they’ve started filming and production on a documentary about the legendary comic book publishers DC Comics. According to an interview with Collider.com, they home to premiere the movie at this summer’s Comic-Con. Originally founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications, DC Comics is the publishing division of DC Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. and Time Warner. The company is home to comic book heroes and titles such as “Superman”, “Wonder Woman”, “Batman”, “Green Lantern”, and “Watchmen.” all of which have either been adapted into multiple media or are in consideration and production stages. Taylor Lautner Set to Play Stretch Armstrong
Fan favorite Taylor Lautner, who portrays werewolf Jacob Black in the blockbuster hit series ‘The Twilight Saga,’ will take on his next big role by taking on the title character in ‘Stretch Armstrong,’ Universal Pictures has announced. Locke and Key Coming To The Big Screen
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (”Transformers”) have picked up the rights to produce a big-screen feature adaptation of IDW Publishing’s comic book series “Locke & Key”. Until recently, Dimension held the rights to the series, but now Kurtzman and Orci’s adaptation will be distributed through their own deal with DreamWorks. Johnny Depp will be directing a documentary on the life and times of Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. Richards, who served as an inspiration for Depp’s Jack Sparrow character in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and also appeared as the character’s father in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”. The Lost Symbol Movie Greenlit by Columbia Pictures
‘The Lost Symbol,’ the third installment in the financially successful ‘Da Vinci Code’ book series by Dan Brown, has been greenlit by Columbia Pictures to become the next movie in the equally popular film series. Columbia Pictures is going to be bringing The Lost Symbol, the third installment of the “Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown, to the big screen. Casting Announced For Soul Surfer
Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, AnnaSophia Robb, Carrie Underwood, Lorraine Nicholson and Kevin Sorbo will all be starring in the indie drama “Soul Surfer,” about surfer Bethany Hamilton, who survived a brutal shark attack while surfing at 13. Sean McNamara is directing the project, which is based on Hamilton’s autobiography. Robb will star as Hamilton, with Quaid and Hunt playing her parents. Virginia Madsen (”Candyman”, “Sideways”) has been tapped as the lead in ABC’s upcoming comedic drama series “Scoundrels.” Based on the New Zealand TV series “Outrageous Fortune,” the series is about the matriarch of a family of criminals and con artists (Madsen) who decides to set her brood straight after her husband ends up in prison for a long stretch.
