Singer Jon Bon Jovi and SNL’s Seth Meyers have been added to the long roster for the upcoming romantic comedy, “New Year’s Eve”, according to The Hollywood Reporter. German actor Til Schweiger (Inglorious Basterds) is also on board.

The film, which is a sequel to the star-studded “Valentine’s Day”, will chronicle the intertwining lives of several different New Yorkers during New Year’s Eve. Bon Jovi will be playing a rock star that meets up with his jilted caterer girlfriend (Halle Berry) at a New Year’s Eve party; Meyers will play a father-to-be who wants his wife (Jessica Biel) to brith their child on New Year’s Eve in order to win $25,000.

Other actors set to star in the film include Robert De Niro, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vegara, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank. Even though Biel and Kutcher were both in “Valentine’s Day”, they will not be reprising their characters from that film’s storyline.

“Valentine’s Day ” was a monetary hit when it was released in 2010, and audiences generally responded to the story, although critics were less kind. “New Year’s Eve” is expected to bring the same amount of escapism and levity “Valentine’s Day” provided.

The film, like its predecessor, is being directed by Garry Marshall, and will be released December 9, 2011.
