While Lionsgate has been trying to keep all the details of its highly anticipated upcoming film adaptation of ‘Conan: The Barbarian’ a secret, spoilers about the plot have been revealed, reelzchannel.com is reporting. The studio didn’t want to reveal many aspects about the movie version of the famous Robert E. Howard-created sword-and-sorcery character, but it’s believed someone from the cast or crew leaked the information.
‘Conan: The Barbarian,’ which is being produced by Dark Horse Comics, will follow warlord Khalar Zym, who will be played by Stephen Lang, as he deals with seeing his wife burned at the stake. He goes on a mission to find the mythical ancient artifact Mask of Acheron, which he believes will bring his wife back. During his journey, Zym burns a northern Cimmeria village, where the lone survivor is a young Conan, who will be played by Leo Howard.
Years later, Zym encounters an adult Conan, played by Jason Momoa, who is still upset about the slaughter of his village. Zym, who is accompanied by his daughter Marique, played by Rose McGowan, must battle Conan. The outcome of the fight will determine the fate of the world.
‘Conan: The Barbarian’ was written by Hoshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly. Marcus Nispel, who is known for directing the ‘Friday the 13th’ and ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ remakes, is helming the comic book adaptation.
