Historical artist, composer/producer Mr. Van Dyke Parks, will barrage a series of 7″ vinyl singles beginning in August of this year. The 7″ series of singles will illustrate artwork on the vinyl from some of Americas top contemporary artist. Parks will release the illustrated vinyl series out on his label, “Bananastan Records” with worldwide distribution by City Hall/ Runt.
Park comments on the illustrations by the American contemporary artist as, “A work of art that relates to the music with-in”. Ed Ruscha illustartions of “Dreaming of Paris” / “Wedding in Madagascar” and Art Spiegelman’s, “Wall Street” / “Money is King” will be the first two singles released. Van Dyke Park mentions on the singles “These are pre-eminent American artists of our time”, calling the singles “Nouveau Niche”.
Other featured artists on up coming singles are Sally Parks, Frank Holmes, Charles Ray, Billy Edd Wheeler, Art Spiegelman and Ed Ruscha. Besides the great music on these vinyl albums the art work is fantastic, so hold on to them. These items are collector’s items all the way.
It has been 15 years since Mr. Park released the well praised album “Orange Crate Art” and For the past 50 years, Van Dyke Parks has blessed his services on greats such as, Brian Wilson (Lost, Smile), Joanna Newsom 2006 album “YS”, Randy Newman and Ry Cooder. Thank you Van Dyke Parks for bringing us some more of your pleasurable work.
In addition, the compilation album of Mr. Parks greatest arrangements shall be released September 20, 2011. The album will contain 15 songs featuring, Arlo Guthrie, Ry Cooder, Little Feat, Mojo Men, Sal Valentino, Dino Martin, Lowell George and Bonnie Raitt.
