Samuel Goldwyn Pictures has officially released the poster for their upcoming film, “The Whistleblower.” The film stars Oscar winner Rachel Weisz in a story inspired by real events:

Inspired by actual events, the film tells the story of Kathy Bolkovac (Weisz), an American police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk.

The film also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Monica Bellucci, Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn, Liam Cunningham, David Hewlett and William Hope. The film will be released to theaters August 5.

I have a feeling this will be an early Oscar contender, what with the fantastic acting pedigree listed. Perhaps this could be Cumberbatch’s first Oscar nom and/or win? Fingers crossed for that. In any event, “The Whistleblower” seems like it’s going to be a great slow-building drama, which is just the way Oscar season needs to be kicked off.

The poster and trailer for the film is below. What do you think about the movie in general? Are you excited to see the film due to its stellar cast? Let us know what you think about that and the poster in the comments section below.
