Homesick for Harry Potter? Not only does the film franchise live on via the source material, J.K. Rowling’s upcoming site Pottermore and all of the hardcore fans that’ll never let go, but through Quidditch, too – real Quidditch.

The International Quidditch Association brings you a combination of dodgeball, rugby and tag, a co-ed game that ultimately resembles the wizard sport Quidditch. There are brooms, hoops, four balls, a human snitch and full contact.

On Saturday, November 12th, Quidditch comes to New York for the World Quidditch Cup, a two-day event involving 100 teams from 27 different states and four nations, amounting to over 2,000 players. As per the description provided by the event’s Commissioner, Alex Benepe, think “a cross between the Super Bowl and a medieval festival.”

In addition to over 300 games of Quidditch, the World Cup is packed with live performances from bands like Harry and the Potters and Muggle Mike in addition to circus sideshows, live owl demonstrations and a slew of food from turkey legs to Bertie Bott’s jelly beans.

The event takes place at Randall’s Island and tickets are currently on sale via Brown Paper Tickets. Don’t feel like paying? I’d keep an eye on Shockya.com because we might have a ticket or two to give away. In the meantime, get a look at what the Quidditch World Cup has to offer in the trailer below.
