One element of the zombie fandom is to create a “zombie outbreak plan” of sorts. “The Zombie Survival Guide” by Max Brooks is a start to creating your own zombie survival plan, but if you want something from an official government organization, check out this article by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The CDC teamed up with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” to create an article that is chock-full of pointers on how to survive a zombie outbreak. Some hard-and-fast rules to live by are, according to the center:

Rule #1: Make a pit stop, fill up before it’s too late

Rule #2: First aid kit, never leave home without it

Rule #3: Clean water is zombie-free water

Good rules, right? Make sure to click here to read the in-depth blog post by the CDC’s Maggie Silver.

Would you heed the CDC’s suggestions? What rules do you have if there was a zombie outbreak? My personal rules would be to always travel in groups and keep a weapon in order to blast some zombie heads. Make sure to write your zombie survival rules in the comments section below.

“The Walking Dead,” starring Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal and Sarah Wayne Callies, airs on AMC Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT
