The Mario Van Peebles-written and directed comedy, ‘We the Party,’ is set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray by XLrator Media this Tuesday, July 31. The film, which stars Peebles, Snoop Dogg, Michael Jai White, Melvin Van Peebles, Mandela Van Peebles and Orlando Brown, looks at today’s youth culture.
‘We the Party’ takes a contemporary look at the struggles and coming of age of the first generation of high school students affected by the Obama administration. Set against the latest trends in music, dance and fashion in an ethnically diverse Los Angeles school, the comedy follows five friends, including Hendrix Sutton (played by Mandela Van Peebles), as they struggle with romance and money.
The DVD of ‘We the Party’ will be sold for $20.99, while the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack will sell for $26.99. The bonuses features include a feature-length commentary by Mario Van Peebles, Mandela Van Peebles and Makaylo Van Peelbes. There are also four music videos from the film, including ‘Truth,’ ‘She’s a Vegan,’ ‘A Light at the End of the Tunnel’ and ‘Forever,’ as well as the theatrical trailer.
