Beware of Mother hiding upstairs! Don’t stay at the Bates Motel! “Psycho” and Alfred Hitchcock fans, listen up! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Searchlight has set a Nov. 23 release date for “Hitchcock,” a drama (based on facts) about Alfred Hitchcock and the making of the classic film, “Psycho.”

This release date, announced Thursday, puts this film in the picture for the Academy Awards race. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Hitchcock” stars Anthony Hopkins as the legendary director. Other stars include Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston and Toni Collette. The film is a love story about Hitchcock’s relationship with wife Alma Reville during the making of the infamous 1960 horror film.
Searchlight will give “Hitchcock,” directed by Sacha Gervasi, a platform release.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that “Hitchcock” will enter a huge group of awards contenders. “Life of Pi,” from Searchlight parent studio 20th Century Fox, and “Silver Linings Playbook” both open nationwide Nov. 21, and “Rust and Bone” opens Nov. 23 in limited release.
