It’s been a while since the last “Percy Jackson” right? “Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief” came out in 2010, and in actuality, it hasn’t been that long ago. But in terms of capitalizing on a trend, you might as well say it’s been eons since a film tried to capitalize on the “Harry Potter” aesthetic. Now, everyone’s trying to capitalize on the “Hunger Games” aesthetic, so I’m wondering how the new “Percy Jackson” film “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” will hold up in this new movie landscape.

In any case, Twentieth Century Fox has released the very first trailer for “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.” The film continues the supernatural story in which Percy, the son of Poseidon, and his similarly powerful friends go on an adventure to get the Golden Fleece to save their home, Camp Half-Blood. The trailer is below for your perusal and, if you’re a “Percy Jackson” fan, extreme scrutinizing.

Write what you think about the trailer in the comments section below. Also, write whether you think “Percy Jackson” will be able to hold its own in this new landscape of female-driven, violent young adult films. I’m very intrigued to see what you have to say.
