FEARnyc, New York City’s largest and most exhilarating horror film festival, is set to return for its second annual edition this Halloween season. The festival is set to be held between October 23 and 29, 2017 at The Sonnet Theater, which is located within The Producer’s Club at 358 West 44th Street. FEARnyc will once again feature screenings of dozens of new horror films, cast appearances, special events and a tribute to horror icon John Carpenter, the creator of the ‘Halloween’ franchise.

During its inaugural year in 2016,FEARnyc screened more than 65 films. The festival included the world premieres of ‘The Possession Experiment,’ ‘Pool Party Massacre’ and ‘Don’t F*** in the Woods.’ It also included the U.S. premiere of ‘Atroz,’ as well as the East Coast premieres of Jeffrey Reddick’s ‘Dead Awake,’ The Butcher Brothers’ ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Snuff’ and the anticipated remake of the classic splatter film, ‘Blood Feast.’

“We scared the pants off New York City last year and we’re back to do it again,” John Capo, the founder and director of FEARnyc, said about the festival he launched. “As New York’s biggest horror film festival, we’re excited to present a new batch of the best horror films and horror-related programming and to celebrate the legacy of John Carpenter.”

The 2016 Jury for FEARnyc included Robert Eggers (the writer-director of ‘The Witch’), Kate Siegel (the writer-actress of ‘Hush’), Peter Phok (the producer of ‘The House of the Devil,’ ‘The Sacrament’ and ‘Stake Land’), Joshua Rothkopf (the Film Editor of Time Out New York), Tuesday Knight (the actress of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 4’, ‘Wes Craven’s New Nightmare’), tomandandy (the composers of ‘The Hill Have Eyes,’ ‘The Strangers’ and ‘The Mothman Prophecies’), Liz Vastola (the costume designer of ‘The Purge: Election Year,’ The Innkeepers,’ ‘V/H/S,’ ‘We Are What We Are,’ ”Keep The Lights On’ and ‘Cold in July’), Brian Spears (the special effects artist of ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘The Sacrament,’ ‘I Sell the Dead’ and ‘We Are What We Are’), Johnny Recher (the assistant director of ‘The Purge: Election Year’ and ‘Underworld: Awakening’), James Reyes (Light Iron Post-Production Services), DJ Hesta Prynn, Jim Klock (an executive at Terror Films) and Lee Peterson (Indie Theater Programmer).
