What began as a celebrated scientific breakthrough may instead ultimately lead to unnerving discoveries that prove that some phenomenon are better left unexplored. That’s certainly the case in the newly released psychological thriller, ‘Shortwave,’ which is now available on DVD and VOD, courtesy of Vega Baby and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
In honor of the drama’s home distribution, which comes after it had its world premiere at last year’s Dances With Film, Shockya is launching an exclusive clip from the movie. Titled ‘We Found It,’ the video follows a struggling married couple as they commemorate their latest scientific breakthrough, which involves a cryptic shortwave radio signal and its universal origins.
The sci-fi film was written, directed, produced and edited by Ryan Gregory Phillips. The thriller stars Juanita Ringeling, Cristobal Tapia Montt, Sara Malakul Lane, Jay Ellis and Kyle Davis.
Vega Baby and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have released the following synopsis for ‘Shortwave’:
Josh and Isabel Harris (Montt and Ringeling) are suffering the loss of their only child. So they decide to relocate to a secluded hillside research facility, with the hopes of repairing their broken family. After years of trying, Josh and his research partner, Thomas (Davis), have a breakthrough involving a cryptic shortwave radio signal and its universal origins.
But something within the signal resonates with Isabel, and she begins experiencing seeming hallucinations and visions of distant memories. Upon further investigation into the phenomenon, the scientists fear for Isabel’s health, while she fears the signal has attracted something sinister to their new home.
