Movie News Cheat Sheet: Summer Is Still A Ways Away But The Season's Movie Promo Material Is Pouring In

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Apologies for the Movie News Cheat Sheet‘s tardiness, but it was for the sake of Steven Spielberg and Giancarlo Esposito! Totally worth it, right? I’d like to think so, but this Cheat Sheet is packed with some pretty exciting material. Well, the idea of Scott Disick playing Patrick Bateman might not be the most thrilling tidbit in there, but we do have a new director for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and a slew of posters from what should be some of the biggest movies of summer 2012. The trailer department is lacking courtesy of the one for What To Expect When You’re Expecting dropping just after the massive New Year’s…

Based on Brian Selznick’s book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo tells the tale of a young orphan named Hugo (Asa Butterfield) who keeps the clocks running in a 1930s Paris train station by day and tries to finish his deceased father’s work by night, restoring an old automaton. In attempt to find the pieces to…

Hugo Movie Review

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Title: Hugo Directed By: Martin Scorsese Starring: Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helen McCrory, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer, Christopher Lee, Michael Stuhlbarg, Frances de la Tour, Richard Griffiths, Jude Law Part of the beauty of filmmaking, is the ability to transport viewers to another reality. Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s, filmmaker Georges Méliès seized the opportunity to put stop tricks and painted film cells to use, combining his skills as a magician and filmmaker to, quite literally, bring dreams to life. Ultimately, we’re still doing the very same thing today, but with the wildly advanced technology and more thorough understanding of storytelling, director…

Paramount Pushes 'Hugo Cabret' Out Onto The Screen Sooner

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

Martin Scorsese’s first film where he works with 3D will be arriving in theaters a lot sooner thanks to a couple of nice decisions from GK Films, the production company financing his upcoming feature “Hugo Cabret.” After being under the secure distribution wing of Sony Pictures, the powers-that-be in GK Films wanted “Hugo Cabret” to appear in theaters during Thanksgiving weekend. When Sony could only produce a December 9th release date, they made their way over to Paramount Pictures to strike up a deal that suited their interest. Now “Hugo Cabret” will be arriving in theaters on November 23rd with Paramount behind the distribution wheel. Since the family mystery feature…
