April Fools’ Day creates a lot of chaos. Some of that chaos gets spread around as entertainment news. If you believed FirstShowing.net‘s post about “The Dark Knight Rises” being converted to 3D, then you were among the people hit with their April Fools’ joke. On April 1, the site made an elaborate post, complete with a press release created by NolanFans, stating that the conversion would preserve the detail of the film. The fact that I have to write an article about “The Dark Knight Rises” not being at the San Diego Comic Con after writing about the rumor that it would be at the Comic Con highlights one of the things I actually hate about movie hype–everything can get blown out of proportion to the point people are making unfounded rumors.
