The folks at Paramount are very proud of their Academy Award nominees. In honor of Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘s nods for best sound mixing, best sound editing and best visual effects, the studio released a TV spot showing off just that, the sound and the effects. In the immediate moments following Shia LaBeouf’s fight on a Vancouver sidewalk last week, the ‘Transformers’ star reportedly threatened to pull a knife on the man who tried to calm him down, TMZ is reporting. Shea Carter, the man who restrained LaBeouf after the fight, said the actor never actually flashed a knife, however. Carter also said he noticed LaBeouf inside the Cinema Public House bar before the fight began. Don Murphy is looking to take another cartoon to the big screen. The “Transformers” producer is looking to give “Captain Planet” a movie treatment, according to CinemaBlend. According to the article, Murphy has signed a deal with Cartoon Network to develop a film based on “Captain Planet and the Planeteers.” If you know anything about “Captain Planet,” you’ll know that the show is extremely ’90s in terms of the politics and the then-emerging eco-centric culture it is based on (I remember being taught about Earth Day in kindergarten, which was right around the time when “Captain Planet” was still on the air). We’ve got two new wide releases making their debuts, but neither will be able to surpass Optimus Prime and the gang. Transformers: Dark of the Moon may not have come anywhere near Revenge of the Fallen‘s $62 million Wednesday intake, but $37.7 million is not a bad start in the least. The question is, how will this initial difference affect the rest of Dark of the Moon‘s opening weekend?
