Title: Our Idiot Brother Directed by: Jesse Peretz Starring: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Adam Scott, Emily Mortimer, Rashida Jones and Zooey Deschanel Running time: 90 minutes, Rated R, Available on Blu-ray Ned (Paul Rudd)  is just a happy go lucky guy who is extremely naive and honest to a fault, so much that he unintentionally disrupts the lives of his three self-absorbed sisters.  There’s Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) the career-oriented journalist, Liz (Emily Mortimer) the overprotective earthy mother of a sheltered son who is married  to a slimy British documentarian (Steve Coogan), and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel) an artistic, yet career directionally challenged bisexual. Zooey Deschanel Sets L.A. Times Writer Straight

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

After reportedly being wrongfully quoted by L.A. Times writer Patt Morrison’s column, actress and She and Him’s leading lady, Zooey Deschanel, has spoken out.  Apparently issues arose when Morrison quoted the performer as saying “I just don’t want them to see the worst of L.A,” while she attended Saturday’s BAFTA gala for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.   The columnist also stated in her article that Zooey, star of the upcoming TV series The New Girl, resides on the Westside.  None of that sat well with Deschanel who has since decided to clear things up, shooting back at the L.A. Times writer on her website hellogiggles. Responding to Morrison,…

The Best and Worst Movies of 2011 So Far (Rudie's Take)

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Some people will say 2011 isn’t a great year for movies. I would tend to disagree with that sentiment. It’s true the number of great films (so far) in 2011 are fewer than 2010 but the ones we do have in 2011 are pretty spectacular and worth watching and discussing. There are movies like Gore Verbinski’s “Rango” or Joe Wright’s “Hanna” are among the favorites of general audiences, just looking at the critical response and box office receipts, but there are also smaller movies that seem to have been forgotten like Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of “Jane Eyre” and Tom McCarthy’s comic gem, “Win Win”. All of these titles are worthy…

Your Highness Movie Review

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Title: Your Highness Directed By: David Gordon Green Starring: Danny McBride, James Franco, Rasmus Hardiker, Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel, Toby Jones, Justin Theroux, Charles Dance Outside of a middle school classroom, sex, drugs and dicks aren’t inherently funny. In order for these subjects to actually be funny, they must be placed within a funny circumstance. Not only does Your Highness fail by attempting to tap into our juvenile sides trying to earn a laugh by throwing out one of these subjects at random, but even when it does contextualize their inclusion, it’s not particularly funny either. Thadeous (Danny McBride) suffers from an extreme case of one-sided sibling rivalry. His older…
