Check out the first episode from “Z.E.R.O. – War of the Dead” Created by Joe Sena/Produced by Melissa Rubin/Written & Directed by Michael DiSario.

NEW YORK, September 12, 2007: FearWerx, the horror brand of micromedia company SphereWerx, LLC, announced today that it has released the second installment of WAR OF THE DEAD: Z.E.R.O, the first episodic zombie series.

“War of the Dead: Z.E.R.O” takes place in an “alternate present”, during the tenuous containment of a global zombie epidemic. Members of the Zombie Emergency Response Operations team (Z.E.R.O), professional anti-zombie commandos, are called to exterminate the living dead in isolated outbreaks.

The pilot premiered earlier this year on an experimental horror channel and was that webnet’s most-viewed program ever. Episode 2 can be seen at the series’ new home, www.warofthedead.com, where the pilot and all subsequent episodes will launch.

“We finally get to see how messy the job is,” said creator/executive producer Joe Sena of SphereWerx. “The pilot introduced our four main characters, but this one’s got more action, humor and an abundance of the ‘red stuff’.”

Focusing on the character of Tara (Dina Cataldi), this episode finds the group responding to an outbreak in an abandoned apartment building. Discovering an infected female squatter (guest star Devon Marie), the group awaits a medical unit while fighting off hordes of undead. Meantime, the dying woman reveals a terrible secret, forcing Tara to make a decision resulting in an effects sequence that will make even the most die-hard gorehounds squirm.

“What horror fans and non-horror fans alike have recognized is that the merit in the show is not just the fx and gore — anyone can do that,” said writer/director Mike DiSario. “The show is about the depth of the characters and the situations they find themselves in. Everything is more effective when the audience is engulfed in the story.”

The series is produced by Melissa Rubin, written and directed by Michael DiSario and also stars Don Money as “Justin” the team Captain, Andrew Roth as “Gellow” the team’s weapons expert, Sean David as “Jones” the tactics expert, and Lynn Mastio-Rice as “Dr. Orchid”, the group’s adminstratively mandated psychiatrist.

Five more episodes are in progress and the entire first season is slated for release on DVD in 2008. Episodes will be announced and released on www.warofthedead.com, where viewers can get cast and crew bios, read more about the mythos behind the “War of the Dead” and buy Z.E.R.O gear.
