Okay boys and girls this is serious news. For some time now there had been rumors that Micheal Bay wanted to take a crack at the Friday the 13th series and see what he could do. Well now we will see this horror classic through his eyes. Micheal Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company has joined with New Line Cinemas (who hold rights to the franchise) to produce the remake. This project has been held up for a variety of reasons ranging from funding to getting a good script. Brad Fuller and Andrew Forum from Platinum Dunes have said in past interviews, they do want to have Jason in the film, but he doesn’t come out until part 2 so they might have to blend parts 1 and 2 together. Or maybe even just start from scratch and do something completely different. Writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift have been hired to pen the script. They wrote Freddy vs Jason in 2003. And so far the director that Dunes chose was Jonathan Liebesman whom directed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

Friday the 13th remake will hopefully begin shooting in early 2008.
