Plot: A hitman (Cage) in Bangkok to pull off a series of jobs falls for a local woman and bonds with his errand boy.
Fantastic to see Nic back in a movie he can really sink his teeth into and we get to see him in the action genre once again. Also great to see Nic’s Saturn Films on-board also. I have always defended Nicolas Cage’s performances as I truly love that he stays true to himself in the roles he takes on, always prepared to mix it up and push himself to do what some may see as the unconventional. When you can look at any actor/actress body of work and see such diversity and range, then you know they truly are unique. Of course, some are not always to everyone’s taste, but as we all know, you can please some of the people some of the time but never all of the people all of the time. I truly believe regardless of whether the movie was a flop or a gem, if you exit the cinema discussing it, then it has had an impact on you and the people behind it have achieved what they originally set out to! I hope Nicolas Cage continues to accept roles that are not ‘normal’ because in today’s society of bland and imitation, his characters are a breath of fresh air, figuratively speaking. If only Hollywood could take more risks like this I’d have more choice as an adult at the cinema!
