Mark Millar, the comic book scribe behind the supervillain hit Wanted, which recently made the jump to the big screen this past July, recently talked to Superhero Hype about the Hollywood interest in his latest work War Heroes. War Heroes, a six-issue series whose second volume comes out September 19th on Image Comics, tells the tale of the future of American military forces that employ superpowered beings in a war not unlike what the US is involved in now, and is garnering a lot of hype.

Millar said “I was in London working (and hanging out with some MW buds) over the last couple of days, but War Heroes officially went out to the studios yesterday after a few weeks of informal chats. […] Pretty much all the big guys in town are going in for this and things should really start moving in the next couple of days. Tony and I had a dream director in mind for the project and, weirdly, he was the first email, suggesting he directs if his production company gets their hands on the material. But three genuine heroes are already in the mix for this so I have a feeling we’re going to end up in good hands.”

The Scottish Millar is also the author of Kick-Ass, another comic book title that’s making its way to the big screen, about a teenage boy with no powers or training at all deciding to become a suburban superhero that will feature Nicholas Cage.
