One of Hollywood’s biggest dream teams, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, has paired up again, this time for Alice in Wonderland, in which Depp has confirmed he will be playing the Mad Hatter.

In addition to his Alice role, Depp will also play the sidekick Tonto in Disney’s upcoming movie version of television series “The Lone Ranger.”

During a Disney preview at the famous Kodak Theatre on Wednesday, Depp appeared on-stage dressed as Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean series, walking to “The William Tell Overture,” more commonly recognized as the “Lone Ranger” theme song.

As for Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, to be filmed in live-action and CGI, is the beloved tale which first told the story of a young girl, who after following a rabbit down a hole, is transported to a strange world.

Disney’s original version, made in 1951, was sweet and innocent, quickly becoming a favorite among kids, but as history has showed us, we can expect Burton’s to be filled with gothic delights.

Sony Pictures Imageworks, its CGI and special effects studio, is reported as being on board to do effects work on the film.
