Actor Nick Nolte is suffering from smoke inhalation and abrasions after a fire broke out at his Malibu home Tuesday morning.

After discovering Nolte trying to extinguish the fire himself shortly after their arrival, firemen put out the flame that started in Nolte’s bedroom.

In a statement, the actor’s publicist says, “There was an electrical fire at Nick Nolte’s house. No one was injured and there was no structural damage to the house. Mr. Nolte is grateful to the Malibu Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department for their quick response and assistance.”

According to TMZ.com, the house has been left with $1 million in structural damage and $500,000 in content damage.

Nolte, who co-starred in this summer’s blockbuster comedy hit, Tropic Thunder, alongside Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr., adds that he will seek medical attention as soon as possible for his injuries.
