Even though Twilight isn’t due to hit screens until November, its production company, Summit Entertainment, has announced its moving ahead with the making of its sequel. Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily said Monday that the sequel will be based on the book series’ sequel, written by Stephenie Meyer, called New Moon.

Twilight Movie Still

Despite releasing information that there will indeed be a sequel, no further details about the sequel were made public.

According to the book series, the second novel is said to be focused on losing true love. In New Moon, Isabella “Bella” Swan is eighteen years old, rather than seventeen.

Upcoming release Twilight is a modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella and her unlikely romance with a mysterious vampire classmate, Edward Cullen, are the center of the first novel. As their romance begins to blossom, Edward’s enemy comes to town and sets his eyes on Bella, putting their love to the test.

The film stars Kristen Stewart as Bella, Robert Pattinson as Edward and many others. Penned for the screen by Melissa Rosenberg and directed by Catherine Hardwicke, it is set to hit theaters on November 21st.

  7. […] So toxicshock.tv claims that Summit Entertainment has announced that it’s going ahead with the Twilight sequel, New Moon.  The article has no quotes from Summit, and I see nothing anywhere else on the net (including the Twilight Lexicon, MTV Movies Blog, Stephenie Meyer’s website, etc)…so I think I call bull shit. I wanted to point it out, anyhow, in case anyone wants to weigh in on that one. […]

  8. “Catherine Hardwicke said that there still has been no sequel discussion, and that Summit will wait for box-office figures, and decide only after that. Nevertheless, she’s pretty sure they won’t shoot New Moon and Eclipse together, they’ll shoot New Moon first, and then Eclipse. ”

So no, New Moon has not yet actually been totally confirmed. ^^

    Thank you, Badtaste.it. :D
