Glenn Close will be honored December 5th, 2008 by The Hollywood Reporter for her outstanding film career as it unveils its 100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment feature, done annually in the publication.
The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award is named after the former CEO of Paramount Pictures, who was the first woman to head a major movie studio, and celebrates Hollywood’s most successful actresses.
This year will mark the 17th year The Hollywood Reporter has held this award ceremony.
Close has earned five Oscar nominations throughout her 33 year career for her roles in Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction, The Natural, The Big Chill and The World According to Garp. She won two Golden Globe awards, two Emmys (one of each for her role in “Damages”) and three Tony Awards for her theatre and musical roles.
Former winners of the award include Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep and Barbara Walters.
