The summer 2008’s smash blockbuster “The Dark Knight” will be hitting store shelves on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc December 9th in the US, with releases in the UK on the 8th and Australia the 10th.

The Christopher Nolan-directed sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins”, a reboot of the Batman franchise featuring the classic DC Comics’ character, went on to break box office records in the US this past year, grossing over $500 million and becoming only the second US film to ever do so.

The movie continues from “Batman Begins” with Batman (Christian Bale) continuing his one-man war on crime in Gotham, and has the gangs of the city on the run. When the mysterious and chaotic criminal known as the Joker (Heath Ledger) enters the scene, his anarchic tactics and psychotic personality not only wreck havoc on the city but also test the limits of Batman and his allies, Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the charming District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).

“The Dark Knight” will be available on a one-disc DVD edition, a two-disc Special Edition DVD, a two-disc Blu-Ray, and a Special Edition Blu-Ray packaging that comes with a statuette of the Bat-Pod, Batman’s unique motorcycle introduced in the film.
