There is more news about the expanded roster of robots in disguise in the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen”. IESB.Net is reporting that the live-action “Revenge Of The Fallen”, the sequel to 2007’s “Transformers” will be featuring a fan-favorite, the Autobot version of the evil Decepticon mega-Transformer Devastator, Superion.
Fan hopes were high when it was officially leaked months ago that the film would feature Devastator, a giant Transformer that will reportedly be formed from several construction vehicle Decepticons and is described as “gorilla-like”.
Here’s the official description for Superion and the Autobots that make him up, according to IESB and the leaked official toy images;
“The mighty union of the five AERIALBOTS, SUPERION thinks of little else besides destroying any DECEPTICONS he encounters, and protecting any innocent bystanders nearby. The robots that combine to form this powerful warrior are experienced teammates, working in tandem to see that the AUTOBOTS emerge victorious from the fire of THE ANCIENT WAR.”

The Transformers franchise, about a war on Earth waged between warring factions of a robot species that can transform into vehicles, began as toys retroactively covering a range of Japanese toys from the 1970’s into a single line in 1984 that has since grown to include animated series and films, as well as the 2007 live-action film and the upcoming sequel. The first “Superion” Transformers toy debuted 1986 and was the Autobots’ first “combiner”, made from putting together several different airplane-based figures into a single larger figure.
“Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” is due to hit theaters June 26th, 2009.
