Rumors were widespread and buzzing when a “reliable source” emailed horror news outlet Bloody Disgusting with the news that filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has a new project: the Predator series.

Reportedly, Rodriguez and his production company Troublemaker Studios will be producing the Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox.

The original 1987 film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura, was written by Jim and John Thomas and was helmed by John McTiernan.

There was even bigger news when the plot was revealed, saying there is a good change that there will be more than one predator, saying, “In the reboot a team of commandos face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”

However, at the point, this rumor is just that…a rumor. There is no writer nor a script attached to the project at this point and there is no word on whether or not Rodriguez will direct.

Rodriguez, if the rumor turns out to be true, might face being in high water with a number of projects on the way. According to his IMDB page, he is currently finishing work on his latest film, Shorts, which will be followed by two Sin City sequels, Red Sonja and made-for-TV movie, Addicto de Salsa.
