“Sherlock Holmes” stars Robert Downey Jr. as the eponymous and famous master detective, Jude Law as his stalwart companion and partner Dr. Watson, Rachel McAdams as the master spy and femme fatale Irene Adler, and Mark Strong as the dangerous cult leader Lord Blackwood.
Sherlock Holmes is a literary creation of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a brilliant London-based detective whose vast knowledge of various subjects and skills, combined with his amazing deductive reasoning, make him Britain’s foremost investigator. Along with Dr. John Watson, his longtime friend, detecting partner, and one-time roommate, he is known for solving almost impossible cases using abstract deducting and his unique intellectual prowess. First appearing 1887, the character became so popular over time that Conan Doyle even resurrected him from the dead after killing the character in the story “The Final Problem” due to reader mail and concern. The character has remained in the public conscious ever since, and has been adapted into various other books, comics, TV series, and other films.
“Sherlock Holmes” is scheduled to hit theaters November 13th, 2009.
