The Top Cow/Image Comics title “Aphrodite IX”, along with help from Threshold Entertainment and Platinum Studios, will be adapting the title into a 3-D feature film, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Producers are looking for the female lead for the film to portray the title character, which centers on an amnesiac cyborg assassin whose memory would be wiped after each mission, who begins a search for her former life when she finally starts to become self-aware. In her search she deals with various threats, including a cyborg conspiracy to conquer Earth. “Aphrodite IX”, which first debuted in 1996 during the 90’s comic-book boom, was created by writer David Wohl and was comic book artist David Finch for Top Cow. The character has appeared in various other titles besides her own, including Top Cow’s well-known “Witchblade” and “The Darkness” books, and Image Comic’s “Cyberforce”.

Larry Kasanoff and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, the chairman/CEO of Platinum Studios, are producing. Top Cow CEO Marc Silvestri and former Universal Pictures exec Randy Greenberg of the Greenberg Group are the executive producers, with Top Cow president Matt Hawkins and Rich Marincic co-producing. No release date, director, or other casting decisions have been announced so far.
