Christopher Eccleston plays Destro in the upcoming “GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra”. James McCullen Destro XXIV / Destro: A weapons designer and founder of the Military Armament Research Syndicate (MARS), he will be the primary villain for the early part of the film, which will detail the beginning of G.I. Joe and the beginning of their conflict with the mysterious Cobra organization.
Laird James McCullen Destro XXIV, also known simply as Destro, first appeared in the “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” toy line of the G.I. Joe toy franchise. Descended from a long line of weapons makers and sellers, he is best known for wearing a full-face lifelike metal mask, a family heirloom. Alongside Cobra Commander, he is one of the main villains of the G.I. Joe franchise, and is also known for his love of the evil Baronness, another Cobra villain.
“G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra” will hit theaters August 7th, 2009 and stars Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Marlon Wayans, Eccleston, Sienna Miller, Arnold Vosloo, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
