According to director Michael Bay on his Shoot for the Edit forms. He may take a one year break from Transformers, and not shoot Transformers 3 until 2012. Here’s what he posted on his forum.

“I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.” – Michael Bay

Michael Bay recently finished “Transformers 2” aka Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen starring Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf ( Eagle Eye ), Isabel Lucas and Rainn Wilson ( The Office ) coming to theaters June 24, 2009.

  1. I would hope that Paramount would consider moving the date to July 4th, 2012. Bay should direct Transformers 3. I think a change in directors could be a mistake. X-Men 3 is a good example of what changing directors can do. X-Men 3 was ok, but it could have been better. Bay brings to the table what is needed for a live action adaption of the Transformers universe, humor, lots of explosions, giant robots beating each other up, yeah and some cheeze, but this is a sci-fi movie that appeals to both kids and older fans from the 1984-89 G1 run. I think Transformers 2 will prove that Bay is the man for a third film. Paramount do the right thing, keep BAY in the fold.

  2. I dont think it should be a big deal, Paramount should just move the movie back to July 4th, 2012, now is not the time to change directors. Michael Bays style is a perfect fit for Transformers movies. Bay and Speilberg being executive producer is a good team. If Paramount is smart they wont break this tandem up.

  3. omg i don’t care when transformers 3 comes out, as long as it comes out on the date that it’s scheduled on
