The latest poster for the upcoming CGI adaptation of “Astro Boy” has hit the web, and you can check it out below.

Based on the hit Japanese manga and subsequent anime, the sci-fi “Astro Boy” is about Astro Boy is about the titular “Astro Boy”, a powerful robot created by the head of the Ministry of Science, Doctor Tenma, who created Astro to replace his son Tobio, who died in a car accident. Astro eventually ends up with Professor Ochanomizu, the new head of the Ministry of Science, who took Astro as his own and treats the superpowered robot like a son. Astro begins to fight crime in his home city, usually dealing with anti-robot villains or insane robots.

Created in 1952 by Osamu Tezuka, the now-revered “god of manga”, the series spawned a TV series that ran from 1963 to 1966 in Japan and the US, as well as several revivals of the manga series in the 1970’s and 80’s. There was also a 1962 live-action movie from Japan of the title.

“Astro Boy”, starring Nicholas Cage, Kristen Bell, Eugene Levy, and Freddie Highmore, about adventures of a young robot who sets off to rid the world of evil but discovers that his home, Metro City, stands on the brink of destruction that only he can stop.
